Occasionally I confess to transgressions.
Take, for example, the recent blog post of The Drunken Giant.
I confess to plagiarism the way a President may say, “It’s true if I say it is.” This is intended to exonerate the miscreant and avoid prosecution.
We remember of course the famous line from the movie: “You can’t handle the truth!” That, however, ended in a court martial.
There is the argument that if I confess to plagiarism it is no longer plagiarism because I do not pretend originality.
So it is with my blog post in question. I have cleverly stolen the punchline from a better joke.
The Texan died and was too tall for the coffin, so they gave him an enema and buried him in a shoebox.
Now that’s funny.
