Christmas is a tapestry
which we kinda
sorta already know
at the end of the year
when we all need a break
for those religiously inclined
it’s a good opportunity
to re-iterate
no need to dwell
on the composite nature
calendar placed
for convenience
subsuming as many
traditions as possible
Oh those Druids again
with their Christmas tree
no need to think
too deeply
to remember
that Santa Claus
is Saint Nicholas
doing saint stuff
and where did
those reindeer come from
we keep needing
more icons
like talking snowmen
a transmogrified Grinch
and a Snoopy dog house
which lets you climb
on top to look for stars
and resembles in shape
if we allow the mind
to bridge the gap
almost like depictions
of a manger
while we wait
for men who are wise
no
this time allows us joy
for everyone
as the year dies
and is reborn
and that’s enough for all
