Coyote came into the yard.
He walked around as if he owned the place.
He went behind the garage,
looking for little animals to eat,
or little children.
I wanted to go out to shoo him away,
but I was cautious
because he might bite me
and I didn’t want that.
He went in the neighbor’s yard
and I saw him walking along
on the other side of the low wall.
He was trying to decide
if he wanted to come back into our yard.
I went closer and said,
“You don’t want to do that.”
He looked at me,
not afraid at all,
and said, “You got that right.”
He sauntered up the street
and joined three others
who were part of his pack.
The coyote warning went out on the street.
It said,
“Coyotes spotted on the street.”
I quoted him and said,
“You got that right.”
