What’s that sound?
A rush to the window,
look out through the blinds.
Don’t see anything.
Sounds like maybe somebody
bouncing a ball
or kicking a trash can.
Maybe coming down the drive.
Maybe sneaking up.
It’s not the mailman.
Mail’s already delivered.
Maybe next door.
Something.
Neighbors.
Maybe it’s nothing.
Did you hear it?
Can’t be the invasion.
There isn’t one.
Maybe spies.
There are always spies.
Everywhere.
All the time.
Maybe it’s spies.
Maybe they found us.
Maybe they’re coming.
Who are “they”?
Who are they working for?
What do they want?
I’ve got nothing to hide.
Who can you trust?
It’s too early to go to sleep.
I’ll stay awake.
I’ll keep watch.
Maybe I should call the police.
But what would I say?
That I heard something?
They wouldn’t come.
Not just for that.
Not without evidence.
I could find some evidence.
Evidence of what?
I don’t know.
I’m sure I heard a noise.
