“Garnish – Culinary – A small amount of food used to decorate or add flavor to a dish.”
For special occasions, fancy buffets, pricey restaurants, the food is hyped up to make it more enticing, to justify the cost. I, who, as you know, love food, always appreciate anything that makes it better.
When the waiter comes over and asks, “Garni?” to verify my acceptance and approval for the enhancements to the entree, of course I say, “Yes,” or if I’m particularly enthusiastic, “Yes, please.”
Imagine my surprise when someone came to me and said, “We’re going to garnish your wages,” and I thought that meant I was going to eat better.
