An original US Civil War regulation tin cup - a common symbol of those forced to beg after the devastating conflict

I’m a pickpocket

I’m a pickpocket because I can’t get a better job.

I blame it on the government.

The government doesn’t do its job.

The government is supposed to run things so everybody is happy. That’s why we vote for them.

It’s our basic needs. Everybody needs to live someplace and have something to eat. Everybody needs a toilet.

Everybody is supposed to go to school to get smart. I did. But too many people who are way less smarter than me get the jobs instead. Even in the government.

I blame the government.

My step-father-in-law was harsh. He saw a man without legs he lost in the war sitting on the sidewalk with an empty cup he was holding out for money. My step-father-in-law said, “Get a job!”

I blame the government.
