I climbed the mountain
so I could look down
on the valley spreading out below,
a pattern of darkness and light.
It was night.
I looked closely
to see what I could see.
So many lives
were entering
their resting phase.
And there,
down there,
just there,
I saw myself.
I knew where I belonged
and climbed down the mountain
and went to bed
and slept.
