Sleeping Ollie Happy at Home

Another blog for my granddaughter

When you said about your birthday over there in Ireland, “I had a nice day here at home, got some of my friends to watch Singin’ in the Rain with me…” that brought back memories. When Shirley and I saw years ago the re-run of the film at the Billy Wilder Theater in the Hammer Museum (the last row with the Billy Wilder Chair where he could watch his films like from a throne), the UCLA Archive bringing back to the public. And Gene Kelly’s last wife was the presenter, and she talked about her marriage to that much older man, and how she was assigned to do his autobiography and met him for the first time but she had never heard of him because her family didn’t go out much, and we tried to believe her. And the film itself, in vivid color, and we were so happy to love it again.

Memories, so many good like that one. Keep ‘em coming.
